Tea colored water and crisp sandbars greet participants as we travel by canoe down Village Creek in the Big Thicket corridor. Setting up camp on sandbars along the way we will learn tool use- knife, saw and hatchet, we will build shelters, practice fire- building including friction fire, and review the basics of safe hydration in the wild. Participants will learn handline fishing, hobo tenkara, limb line and trotline fishing to bolster their fishing skills and will hopefully get a chance to process and cook their own catch over their own friction fire. Other topics like foraging and tracking may be woven into the weekend depending on what we see. Participants are resposnible for their own transportation to the starting location. Course is 3 days, 2 nights.
